Karen Smith’s debut book, “The Little Girl In Me”,
is not just an inspiring story for all women, it’s her testimony.
Born into a world of abuse, abandonment, and broken promises,
“The Little Girl In Me” is a powerful, heart wrenching,
true story of survival, but for the grace of God.
Given away as an infant, the little girl somehow survives
all the tragic misfortunes of life and learns to reclaim her life,
fighting her way to freedom.
Fighting to save…”The Little Girl In Me.”
“A story that had to be told…a hurting that had to be healed.”–Karen Smith
We spoke to Karen Smith about this store.
TB:. What motivated you to write this book?
KS: I had quite a life changing experience in January 2011, when I had a severe stroke. This just happened to take place a week before my husband, who had been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, was scheduled for surgery. While lying in bed one winter evening, I began to thank God for sparing our lives. I began to feel closer to Him than ever. That’s when it happened…God spoke to my heart and said, “I need you to step outside your box.” For weeks, I didn’t have a clue what that meant, but, I knew I was willing to do whatever God said. Then, it came to me. In order to tell this story of our miraculous healing, I needed to tell another story, first. The Little Girl In Me, is that story.
TB: Who do you expect to reach with this book?
KS: Unfortunately, there are so many people, who are so ashamed of their past, ashamed to open up and speak of the horrible hurt, that has weighed them down, from reaching their destiny. My hurt, my pain, was during a time when no one spoke of such things, fearing families would be torn apart, or even worse, not believed at all. I want to be their face, to give them an open door, a reason to step out and say, “I’m not the only one.”
TB: What’s one of the main topics of your book you want people to focus on?
KS: Focus on the realization, that if you don’t face your past, the hurt will consume you. no matter how you try to bury it or mask it, it will not let you reach your full potential…until you face it, head on. I can’t describe the weight that was lifted, when I did. More importantly, asking God for strength to face, what seemed like a giant, helped me to overcome and heal.
TB: Do you have another book in the works?
KS: Yes, I’m currently working on two more books, for the “Healing For Your Soul” series.
tentatively, to be released by late 2015. Stay tuned!
