If you say woman of God, powerhouse music minister, and dynamic, cross-cultural praise and worship leader, you’d be speaking about gospel singer, Martha Munizzi.
Not only has this soulful gospel songstress soared high on the gospel music charts and won numerous gospel music awards, she has also made history as the best-selling independent artist in the history of gospel music, selling over 500,000 units.
The daughter of evangelists, Martha first began signing at age 8 when her parents took her and her sisters on the road. When Martha and her two sisters became teenagers, they sang together at local church events, conferences, and seminars in Florida. That group included her twin sister and gospel recording artist, Mary Alessi. In 1987 Martha married Dan Munizzi, who was a bass and keyboard player for the sisters’ group. Together, they began working in ministry. The couple performed praise and worship songs that included original songs with the praise team at their church in Orlando, FL. The team was so well-received that the couple decided to record Martha’s first CD entitled, Say the Name, which was released in 2002. The CD earned Martha the first of many Dove Award Nominations for Contemporary Gospel Song of the Year as well as her first GRAMMY Award Nomination for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album. Martha also won a Stellar Award for Best New Artist of the Year, an Oasis Award for international Female Artist of the Year and numerous other awards and nominations.
Martha’s energetic, spirit filled music captivates audiences everywhere and sets the atmosphere for worship. One of my favorite songs is “Glorious.” It’s such a high energy song that’s also included on my list of workout songs. Some of my other favorite songs are “Say the Name,” “Because of Who You Are” and “Jesus Is the Best Thing (That’s Ever Happened to Me)”.
The CW Magazine recognizes Martha Munizzi as a COURAGEOUS WOMAN in Gospel music!
