Gospel Songstress Theresa Pinkney is known as one of the sweetest souls in the genre. Known for her bouncy personality and her inspirational songs, she encountered a challenge that many women face: infertility. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, a division of the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, over 12% of women between the ages of 15-44 struggle with infertility. That number amounts to a staggering 7.5 million women in the U.S. Award-winning artist Theresa Pinkney never expected to find herself included in these disparaging numbers. Married for close to 18 years now, she and her husband Ronald have been hoping for a child since they got married. Last year, she was led to consider adoption. Gifted as a songwriter, Theresa couldn’t help but chronicle her thoughts and journey to adoption through her music. The result is the single, “The Child That I Prayed For”, a touching and uplifting tune sung to God, the birth parent and her future adoptive child.

Although adoption is a route Theresa initially didn’t expect to take, now she is thrilled about what’s to come as she embarks on this brand new season. She says, “I thank God for this wonderful journey. God’s plan for me and His will is what is best for our family. When I embraced this with my whole heart, I was truly open and excited about adoption. I meditated on 1 Samuel 1:27 which has helped me over the years. I prayed for the child that God would bring in our lives. The song came to my heart as a thank you to God, the birth parent and the beautiful child that God in his timing will place in our life and heart.”

The upcoming project, the singer’s sophomore release, finds her spreading her musical wings from her critically-acclaimed debut, Me Against The World.

Known for her soaring soprano vocals and her uplifting songs, Pinkney is no novice. She gained fans with her debut up-tempo track, “Count It All Joy”, and others from her first release. A graduate of Washington, D.C.’s prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Pinkney is a former member of the Gospel ensembles, Just Breathe and Pastor Earl Miller & Purity.
