Q&A with Liz

Where does your ultimate passion dwell?

Ultimately, my passion for creativity comes from my mind and my heart. I am constantly thinking of new stories or ideas for arts and crafts. I love coming up with ways to entertain and inspire people. To show them the beauty of the world around them, especially during these dark times. We need a little bit of light and magic.

How have you taken that passion and breathed life into it?

By asking myself questions about life and my journey. I tend to take the negative things that have happened (or are happening to me) and turn them into something positive. I take a question or a situation and look at it from every possible angle and try to find answers to it. I try to tell the truth through fiction. Sometimes it’s in subtle ways, but this is what I enjoy about being a writer.

Has fear ever tried to stop you from pursuing your passion? If yes, how do you conquer the fear? If no, what do you do to keep fear at bay?

Yes. Here’s something a lot of people don’t know about me. I’m scared all the time. I suffer from depression and anxiety, and sometimes I go days without picking up a pen. But I listen to music, watch a video, go outside, talk to my family and friends, I do something to get myself out of my own head. Because that’s usually where fear comes from, my own mind, insecurities, and worries. It’s funny because sometimes my mind is both my enemy and my friend. It’s where I get my creativity and my best ideas, but it can also cripple me with self- doubt and leave me completely helpless.

Usually, what I do is push the worries aside and pick up a pen and write. Even if my hand is trembling, I write. Because I would much rather push through the fear than live life with regret.

Bianca Frost is back in Everafter for another spellbinding adventure. To defeat Baba Yaga she has to train with all four Fairy Queens, Titania, Mab, Eirwyn, and Blodeuwedd. The old crone is determined to steal Rose and David Frost’s baby so that Baba Yaga can train her in the dark arts and destroy good magic once and for all. Bianca, Ming, Maggie, Terrance and Prince Ferdinand have to use all of their wits and resources in order to defeat this powerful, evil witch.

But at what cost?

How do you share your passion with others? Does sharing bring others to tap into their own passion?

I do writing workshops in my home state through the libraries in my county. I LOVE talking to people about how to get started with their stories and novels. I give advice and tips on things to do and what to watch out for. I also talk to people when I’m at events (like comic con, book fairs, and fairy festivals). I feel like I’m paying it forward because a lot of amazing, talented, and kind authors took time out of their day to help me when I was getting started as an author.

I also feel it’s important to give people as much information as possible so they can avoid the mistakes and pitfalls I made when I first started writing.

What is one great piece of advice you would offer to someone looking to find her passion and use it?

Don’t give up. It’s going to be hard. It’s not going to happen overnight. Write because you love it. Do it because you can’t imagine yourself doing anything else with your life.
