CW: Thank you for taking time to share your story. Can you tell me a little about yourself?
Juarkena Pitts: My pleasure. If you take off all of the certifications, degrees, and titles, I am every other woman. I am a fighter, survivor, I am a giver, and I love to help others live their greatest life and succeed. I believe there is a role for every woman.
I am realistic, but I believe that you can have anything you set your mind to.
CW: I love this! What does the word “courage” mean to you?
Juarkena Pitts: Immediately, I think of the phrase, “overcoming under fire.” That is what courage speaks to me. In the midst of pain, courage is having the drive to keep working towards what you want to achieve.
Juarkena Pitts: There was a day where I was sitting in my house, there was glass everywhere and holes in the wall. I had mascara running down my face. My life was in complete shambles, but I had a two-year-old who needed me. I was in a place where I did not like the way things were going. I knew I had to make a decision. Either I was going to continue to go forward or stay where I was. I knew I could no longer be a victim. I knew I had to actively participate in my own deliverance.
CW: Wonderfully said! What would you say to women who want to give up?
Juarkena Pitts: I would say turn off the noise, including social media, TV, and even your friends. We are so quick to listen to everyone else’s opinion other than the opinion that really matters, which is God. This is the opportunity to let go of the judgments you have, find your true authentic self, and embrace who you are.
