Let’s dive in and learn more about the man behind the mission.
Share an inspirational occurrence in your life or a significant challenge you’ve faced in your journey.
I’ve had the blessing, and the challenge of overcoming cancer not once, but twice. These experiences tested my faith, but they also deepened it. At the same time, I was navigating my son’s medical condition, which required strength, compassion, and unshakeable love. Through it all, prayer became my anchor. I remained hopeful and committed to pressing forward, not only for myself but for my family and those who look to me for strength. My journey is a testimony to what faith, courage, and resilience can do. It’s why I wrote Pray With David—to encourage others who are facing storms to hold on and believe that victory is still possible.

What are three key pieces of advice you’d offer to others pursuing a similar path?
- Build a Strong Network: Relationships matter. Connect with mentors, colleagues, and leaders who can help guide and support you. A strong network opens doors and helps you navigate challenges more effectively.
- Stay Informed and Adaptable: Especially in industries like energy, things are always changing. Policies, technologies, and trends shift quickly. Staying informed and being flexible allows you to stay relevant and impactful.
- Advocate for Diversity and Inclusion: Use your position and perspective to uplift others. Diversity drives innovation. Speak up for equitable practices that give underrepresented voices a seat at the table.
What exciting projects, goals, or milestones are coming up in your future?
One of the most meaningful milestones is the launch of my new book, Pray With David. This project is deeply personal, a collection of prayers and reflections born out of my journey through adversity, healing, and faith. I hope it brings encouragement and peace to those who read it.
Even more fulfilling is the opportunity to give back. I’m donating the proceeds from the book to support the victims of the Altadena fires. It’s a way for this book to not only uplift hearts but also bring real help to those in need.
Beyond the book, I remain committed to advocating for health equity, empathy, and leadership that centers people. The road ahead is full of promise, and I’m excited to continue using my platform to serve others.

“I rise today with renewed strength and fresh mercies.”—David A. Ford
What inspires your passion for community service, and how has it influenced your leadership?
My passion for community service is deeply rooted in the rich history and resilience of the African American community. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how ordinary people could make extraordinary contributions when they cared deeply and acted with purpose. That spirit continues to inspire me.
Community service has shaped me into a more empathetic, humble, and effective leader. It’s one thing to lead from behind a desk, it’s another to walk alongside people, hear their stories, and take action together. Those experiences have reinforced my belief in servant leadership and the power of collective impact.
How do you balance your professional role with your community and volunteer work?
Balancing both spheres requires intention and passion. In my professional role, I manage my time strategically, staying focused on goals and delivering results efficiently. That discipline frees up the space I need to give back meaningfully to my community.
I treat my volunteer work with the same level of importance as my job, it’s part of my life’s mission. Whether it’s evenings, weekends, or special events, I create time to serve. Thankfully, my work in public affairs aligns well with my community engagement, allowing me to amplify causes I care about using my skills and relationships.
At the end of the day, it’s all about living a life of purpose. My work and my service are two sides of the same coin: both are about making a difference.

“A Courageous Man stands firm in his values, faces adversity with resilience, and inspires others through his unwavering integrity and love for others.”
