Crowning Confidence: How One Woman Turned Her Healing Into a Movement

Erica Nocera never stepped onto the pageant stage to chase a crown — she stepped onto it to reclaim her confidence, to prove to herself and to others that even after life knocks you down, you can rise with grace, courage, and a heart determined to inspire everyone watching. After battling binge eating disorder, obesity, and years of internalized shame, she decided that the world needed to hear a message she herself had fought so long to believe: every curve, every scar, every part of us is worthy of love, dignity, and celebration.

In 2024, that message became her mission — and it propelled her to national recognition.

A Queen With a Cause

When Erica entered the Woman of Achievement Pageant, she brought more than poise and sparkle. She brought purpose. She shifted her platform to address one of today’s most pressing mental health challenges: the rising tide of unrealistic body standards amplified by social media. Her advocacy, “Mental Health Awareness – Confidence in Every Curve,” earned her the Top Platform Award and the coveted title of Ms. National United States Woman of Achievement® 2024.

Just months later, she was crowned Ms. Italia California Ambassador Queen Woman of Achievement 2025, standing boldly as a woman who transformed her personal pain into a message of empowerment for others.

The Weight That Wasn’t Seen

For years, Erica lived with the heavy emotional toll of binge eating disorder — where food wasn’t a comfort, but a hiding place. Shame tried to silence her. But through treatment, therapy, and radical self-compassion, she lost over 130 pounds and gained something far more powerful:

Self-respect
Self-forgiveness & resilence
A renewed belief that she is enough

Her recovery has now held strong for six years, and each day she reminds herself and others that healing isn’t about reaching perfection — it’s about embracing the whole and sacred self within.

Healing Hearts as a Licensed Therapist

Outside the pageant lights, Erica is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Limitless Talk Therapy, a telehealth practice serving women, youth, adults, and families across California. She specializes in eating disorders, trauma, addiction, body dysmorphia, anxiety, and depression — the very battles she once endured on her own.

She has become the therapist, leader, and role model she needed years ago — reminding her clients that their bodies are not their enemies and their identity is not defined by a number on a scale.

“As Ms. National United States, I am committed to amplifying mental health awareness and empowering people to feel comfortably confident in their own skin,” she says — an oath she honors every day through her advocacy and her career.

A Voice in the Spotlight

Erica’s platform has attracted speaking invitations throughout California, inspiring women and girls to challenge shame, rewrite negative self-talk, and embrace radical self-love. Erica also walked the runway at New York Fashion Week in Times Square this past fall, turning the spotlight into a powerful part of her healing journey — a bold statement of body positivity, strength, and a reminder to every client that they, too, can rise and own their story.

Her crowns symbolize more than achievement — they symbolize resilience. They represent:

✔ Every woman who has ever felt unseen
✔ Every person told their body was too much or not enough
✔ Every survivor choosing healing over hiding

The Courage To Be Seen

Erica believes that body diversity is a human right — and that when we celebrate our uniqueness, we permit others to stand confidently in theirs.

“If my story can remind even one person that they are enough — boldly, beautifully themselves — then every moment of struggle has been worth it.”

Her journey reminds us that healing isn’t about becoming someone new.

It’s about becoming who you were always meant to be:
confident in your every curve,
grounded in self-care,
and courageously standing in your truth.
