CHE BROWN, THE HAPPY ENTREPRENEUR
Who is Che Brown at his core?
I know that I am a son. My father, Marshall Brown, is no longer with us. He passed away in March of 2017. But mother dear is still here. I have two adult sons. I’m someone who happens to be an entrepreneur and that is so important to me to make a difference in the lives of other folks. I’m a husband, I’m a father, I’m a son, I’m a friend, I’m an entrepreneur, I’m a Christian, I’m a kind human being and I’m someone who loves to have fun. I guess that’s who Che Brown is, the happy entrepreneur.
“Sometimes you got to fail but you keep on going no matter what.”
Tell us about the Happy Entrepreneur Show and what motivated you to actually do the show?
The Happy Entrepreneur Show came about because I failed. I was doing training for my team at 11:00 PM at night and doing that training. I decided to turn the camera on and let the world watch while I train teams on sales at 11:00 at night. And guess what? No one cared about sales training at 11:00 at night, although I was passionate about it, although I was giving it my best. So I said, “You know what? I’m going to start something called the Sales and Marketing Lab.” I’m going to do this great training and no one cared. And then one day I said, “I’m going to turn on that camera and I’m going to call one of my good buddies up, I’m going to ask her if she’ll come on to talk to her about her business and how sales is a part of it and what she does as well.” “Well, here’s the point that I want to make. Sometimes you got to slow down to speed up. Sometimes you got to fail but you keep on going no matter what. As a result, the Happy Entrepreneur Show was born.
Why are some entrepreneurs not happy?
Because there’s this mindset, there’s this belief that to be an entrepreneur that you’ve got to grind and that’s not the case. I’m not trying to grind my life away. And to be an entrepreneur that you got to work 24 a day, seven days a week. No, I didn’t sign up for that program. Some people believe in order to be an entrepreneur that things are going to go the way they should go, that you can’t have a marriage and be happy, you can’t have relationships and be happy. So the reason that some folks aren’t happy is they’re looking at the money that they’re making and they’re thinking if I’m not making the money, then it’s hard for me to be happy.
A number of folks, once they make the money, look at what they gave up and they say, “Wait a minute. I lost time with my family. I lost time with my wife. I lost time with my kids. My health has deteriorated because I didn’t take care of it. I’ve got all this money, but what good does it do, Che, to have all this money and I don’t take care of my health?” And now they are unhappy. The point that I want to make to you today is that in order for you to be happy, it has to come from the inside first. And you really have to focus on one core belief.
What are 3 ways to turn your entrepreneurial journey into a happier and more successful lifestyle?
Here’s my belief. Systems beat goals every single time. One of our core values that we believe is that systems beat goals every single time. Systems are duplicatable, systems are repeatable, and systems are things you can hand to other folks so that they go and do the work. Number one is you’re going to follow this formula. It’s called S plus S plus S equals S. And so you got to focus on systems plus a strategy plus sales equals a successful CEO.
Systems are what you need. See goals are always in the future. That’s why systems beat goals. You’re never at a goal. You’re always implementing one system today, another system the next day, and another system the next day to get to your goal. So let’s take a look at your lead generation systems as an entrepreneur. Look at your time management systems as an entrepreneur. Look at your collaboration partnership systems as an entrepreneur. Let’s get the systems in place. Plus the strategy, we believe in the Evergreen Revenue Model and the strategy is, how do I take an idea and use a system to implement it? Don’t have time for that. So systems plus a strategy plus sales. Now, what are sales? Sales provide you the resources necessary to execute the vision you have for the people you were called to serve.
Imagine that you have this vision, you want to make a difference in the world, but you don’t have the resources. That means you don’t have the revenue. So now sales give you the revenue, to purchase the website, to purchase the coach, to purchase the consulting, to purchase the office space, to purchase the technology, to buy the branding, to buy the graphic scene. So, systems plus a strategy plus sales equals a successful CEO.
