Dr. Shavneet Kler: The Doctor who Proved that Anything is Possible
by Jessica Taylor-Mosley
There’s a poem penned by C.W. Longenecker entitled “Power Of Thought”. In the latter part of the poem he says, “Life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster man. But soon or late the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can.” This poem has always resonated with me; especially when I am up against great challenges. It lets one know the power of the thought. It shows you that in order to succeed in life, you must train your mind to do the impossible. And that is just what Dr. Shavneet Kler did in her road to becoming a successful chiropractic doctor.
Wilmington, DE chiropractor Dr. Shavneet Kler graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2002. Prior to that, she graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. The State of Delaware is her flagstaff location. She has held licenses in Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey and Canada. She is currently Worker Compensation certified and experienced in Functional Capacity training and ergonomics. She was instrumental in the inception of Palmer College of Florida. She was active on the Clinic committee and nominated to the Ethics committee. She has won the Women’s Impact Award in 2016.
Courageous Woman was granted the privilege of sitting and speaking with this phenomenon of a woman. Little did we know how much energy would be in this room…
CW: What is your definition of a Courageous Woman?
Dr. Kler: A courageous woman is a woman that steps outside of the box. She is a woman that when given challenges, she does not run from them, she faces them head on. When she falls down, she picks herself up immediately and doesn’t let herself stay on the ground. She knows she can always get back up. She can get back up because she has a plan. Failing is not an option.
CW: How have you been Courageous, Dr.Kler?
Dr. Kler: When I decided that I wanted to be a doctor; that I wanted to be a chiropractor. I got a one way ticket on a Greyhound bus to Iowa. I had never seen Iowa. I had never been there. Iowa was the place that chiropractic was founded. I couldn’t afford it. I knew this was the place that I was supposed to be. I did not know my roommate. I had talked to her on the phone. I told her if we get along, I’d stay. If not, I will give her one week’s rent and move out. That was taking a leap of faith!
CW: Wow! That was definitely taking a leap of faith! You wanted your dream just that bad and you were not taking no for answer. You were determined to succeed by any means necessary! That takes a lot of courage. Why did you press through that fear?
Dr. Kler: I was at a stage in my life that I just knew. I did not come from a family of great wealth. I knew what I had to do. I was very clear. I was scared. But you just have to face that fear. One’s greatest growth happens when they face and overcome their fears.
CW: What would you tell a woman that needs to take the leap of faith? Especially a woman who does not have the money to fund the dream.
Dr. Kler: I did not have the money. I had pots and pans in my suitcase. If one keeps thinking that they don’t have it, then guess what? They will not have it. You have to believe that there is something greater on the other side. You don’t know exactly what all that is, but you have to truly trust and believe that there is something greater. And in doing that, you are guaranteed success.
Dr. Kler has proven that hard work plus dedication equals massive success. Is anything possible? Yes it is. We have the proof. Dr. Shavneet Kler is that proof.
