Dr. Celia Nurse was raised in the projects and was exposed to drugs, alcohol, mental illness, abuse, and crime. She has survived two consecutive teenage pregnancies, eviction threats, and divorce. Today, Dr. Celia Nurse holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. degree in nursing. She is a top motivational speaker, legal nurse consultant, nursing professor, medical surgical registered nurse, health training educator, and presenter.
My chapter, “False Labor,” briefly describes how I used what I learned in my birthing experience to accomplish my goals in my nursing career despite eviction threats, divorce, loss, and devastation.
What inspired you to write this story and contribute to the book?
The opportunity to inspire other women in my community and world stimulated my desire and cemented my decision to contribute to this book.
