Love isn’t just a feeling, it’s chemistry, biology, and even physics in motion. Few understand that better than Dr. Ryeal Simms, celebrated worldwide as The Relationship Scientist. A global authority on the neuroscience of relationships, body language, and AI romantic dynamics, and Senior Director of Neuroscience Research at NeuroCore Research Institute Inc., Dr. Simms has spent nearly three decades answering life’s most intimate question: Why do we do what we do in love?
Blending cognitive neuropsychology, behaviorism, spirituality, and human connection, his science-meets-heart approach has touched audiences on every continent. Whether counseling couples, preparing singles for love, or advising Hollywood storytellers, his mission is simple, help people understand themselves and each other more deeply.
Recognized by Courageous Men Magazine as one of the Top 10 Men to Watch, Dr. Simms is looking to 2025 with bold goals: educating millions worldwide on the neuroscience of love in schools, churches, and organizations. His vision? Stronger, healthier relationships, and a world emotionally, mentally, and spiritually ready for love.
CM: How will you integrate neuroscience education into schools and communities?
Dr. Simms: I pioneered this through the Tavis Smiley Foundation’s Leadership Institute with thought leaders like Dr. Cornel West. Today, AI tools like ChatGPT make global access possible. The reward is watching young people light up when they discover there’s real science behind how and why they love.
CM: What surprising discoveries have changed how people approach relationships?
Dr. Simms: Romantic love activates the brain’s reward system, just like addiction. Kissing plays a powerful subconscious role in mate selection. And in most encounters, it’s the woman’s body language that makes the first move before a word is spoken. Attraction is less mystery than biology.

“Science shows the how. Faith explains the why. Love gives it all meaning.”
-Dr. Ryeal Simms
CM: How do you balance science with love’s emotional and spiritual sides?
Dr. Simms: Science explains the mechanics, but spirituality and emotion give those mechanics purpose. I see science as simply uncovering what God already created.
CM: How do neuroscience, spirituality, and relationships work together to explain ‘why we do what we do’?
Dr. Simms: Neuroscience shows the mechanics, spirituality gives purpose, and relationships provide context. Together, they foster clarity, empathy, and accountability.
CM: What role will AI play in future relationships?
Dr. Simms: AI already shapes communication, emotional support, and matchmaking. It can enhance emotional intelligence, but must never replace genuine human intimacy.
CM: After 27 years in neuropsychology, what’s most surprising about human connection?
Dr. Simms: That the desire for love and belonging is truly universal, across all ages, cultures, and species. Love and connection aren’t luxuries; they’re survival needs.
CM: What exciting projects are coming up?
Dr. Simms: I’m Executive Producer for WorksNProgress, hosted by award-winning filmmaker Monice Mitchell Simms. I’m also launching redesigned websites for my personal brand and NeuroCore Research Institute Inc., and expanding our research team to advance relationship and neuroscience studies.
Whether decoding the silent language of attraction, teaching couples to reignite connection, or preparing singles for healthy love, Dr. Ryeal Simms shows that relationships are more than chance or chemistry, they are a beautiful intersection of mind, body, and spirit. His mission is clear: transform how the world understands and experiences love, one relationship at a time.
