Nydia S. Wells
Domestic Violence H.E.L.P. Coach
Nydia Shatanya Wells-Evans, a native of New Orleans is a survivor of, as well as an advocate and public speaker for domestic violence. After six years together filled with “I’m sorry”, “I won’t do it again”, “I love you”, “I didn’t mean it”, etc., after every assault; Nydia became married. Marital tragedy, bad memories, black eyes, being choked and many eyes, being choked and many bruises is what they shared mostly.
After two years of trying to straddle the fence of advocating to end domestic violence while still being in an abusive relationship, she finally realized her worth and her mission. Nydia removed herself from the abusive relationship.
Nydia has a passion for helping others. Nydia also has a desire to empower, uplift and encourage those around her. Nydia founded Blessing Our Women, Inc., in 2015, a New Orleans based non-profit whose purpose is to support women who need help starting over. BOW focuses on bringing awareness to Domestic Violence. Nydia affirms that from every wound there is a scar, and every scar tells a story…a story that says, “I survived”. Nydia published her book ‘The Love You Promised Hurts Like Hell: Memoir of My Pain’.
