Maya A. Smith, BSN, RN, CLC is a Registered Nurse, and the founder and owner of Mayabe Essentials, LLC. Her brand specializes in small-batch manufacturing of premium hair and skin care products handcrafted in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Maya uses her passion for health and wellness to highlight the benefits of utilizing non-toxic ingredients in daily routines. She currently resides on the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands with her husband, Brian.
“My chapter, She Has Officially Lost Her Mind,” is about my decision to transition from healthcare to full-time entrepreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic. It examines the internal and external struggles I encountered during my career change.
What inspired you to write this story and contribute to the book?
Leaving a full-time career to operate a small business carries considerable risk, especially in these uncertain times. I felt the need to document and share my story with those who are in a similar situation.
What do you hope readers will gain from reading this chapter?
I want my readers to recognize that we have all been blessed with talents. I hope that they will be inspired to utilize those talents to be a source of inspiration to others.
