Velma Freeman-Walter, RN, owns and founded Life Skills Training Center, LLC. She is a 1990 graduate of the Ivanna Eudora Kean High School. She is a 2005 graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a 2015 graduate of Regis University with a Master of Science in Nursing. She owns a business in St. Thomas specializing in American Heart Association, Basic Life Support, Home Health Aide, Nursing Assistant training, and more.
My chapter, “Born to Be a Boss,” speaks to some of the challenges that I endured in my life, and due to my perseverance, I was able to push through and achieve my goals. Life was not perfect, and I didn’t have a typical childhood, but I was determined to follow instructions and succeed.
What inspired you to write this story and contribute to the book?
I want to encourage anyone whose future may look hopeless not to give up. It may not be easy, but the sky is the limit if you stay on course and get around like-minded people.
